“Doctors are not how to be of service for people of whom a cure is not an option,” reflected Dr. Ungerleider on her path to palliative care. “We are taught that death is the ultimate failure. People aren’t dying in the ways that match the goals and values of how they want to live their lives, but it is something that I have set out to really change.”
In this episode of the Patient Activation Network Podcast, Dr. Shoshana Ungerleider joins us to discuss the current state of palliative care, how doctors are trained to have end-of-life conversations and strategies of how to talk to your loved ones about advanced directives. All this and exciting news about the EndWell Symposium!
