The Patient Activation Network Podcast is live at the 2017 Planetree International Conference on Patient-Centered Care. Our next guest is Laura Blackwell of North Carolina. Laura is a 9 year Breast Cancer survivor of stage 1 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. During our Podcast she recounts her journey of being a young mom diagnosed with breast cancer.
She shares moments including how she let her 3 year old son shave her head after her hair started to fall out due to her chemotherapy to how her journey lead her from walking an IV down the hall to becoming a patient advocate helping patients like her navigate their cancer journey. After her diagnosis and treatment, Laura went to work in the cancer center where she received her treatments. Laura has been with the Levine Cancer Institute (LCI) for 6 years and continues to use her story to encourage others that are beginning their cancer journey
